It’s hard to walk down the street of a trendy neighbourhood in a major European or North American city without spotting at least one yoga studio. And cruise on over to Instagram for yogis striking a downward dog pose in front of major tourist attractions around the world. Yogis in Marrakech may not be so obvious, but hidden behind unassuming doors in this Muslim North African Kingdom are idyllic spaces provide the perfect studio space for practicing yoga in Marrakech.

Wake up for a sunrise yoga practice on the rooftop terrace as the call to prayer sounds out throughout the old Marrakech medina, or end your day in the same manner. It may not be the typical image associated with the hustle and bustle of the colourful medina, but Marrakech is a city of contrasts. Step inside Riad 72 and you’ll be immediately whisked away to a place where birdsong and hot mint tea served with Moroccan treats under the banana trees are the norm. Steps away from the bustling souks yet a world away, the perfect space for a yoga practice awaits.

After all, Marrakech is known for its riads, but guests are often surprised to find that these traditional houses are actually little peaceful oases in the heart of the city.

Here at Riad 72, our concierge Stefania is available to organize private yoga classes on site with carefully selected yoga instructors for guided practices. Our spacious riad means guests can practice under the arches on the central patio, up on the rooftop terrace overlooking the Marrakech medina, or depending on the room booked, in the privacy of their own space. After all, we want guests to feel like Riad 72 is their home away from home.

Yoga instructors! Host a yoga retreat in Marrakech

At Riad 72 we have designed our space with retreats in mind. Our rooftop terrace provides some of the best views of the Marrakech medina with both covered and uncovered spaces. A sunrise practice followed by fresh breakfast on the rooftop terrace provides a zen start followed by a locally sourced breakfast buffet. How about a mid-morning meditation up on the cozy sofas on rooftop terrace as the birds chirp away and the lull of the daily life below calms the mind?

Just off the central patio where the fountain splashes under the banana trees, our Salle Rouge can accommodate up to 40 people for guided meditations, exercises and creative processes. Or for group lunches and creative discussions, let us turn the space in to a cozy space for coffee breaks with treats prepared by our in-house pastry chef, or a buffet lunch/dinner featuring vegetarian and vegan dishes.
